The Middle Holmzez: 12/21/08

What do you get two people who have been together almost 61 years? Two people whom mean the world to you? Two people whom want for nothing and have all the love in the world for each other and family? Every year I try to come up with something unique to get for them. Although I know they want for nothing and constantly tell you they don't want or need for a thing. I can't help, but want to give to them, as they have done for me all my life.
My Grandpa has gone through so much in the last year. In May he ended up in St. Lukes and we thought we were really going to lose him. He finally fought hard enough to get to rehab for treatment. Thankfully I have off in the summer so I could go visit him everyday Sometimes I would join him in therapy, sometimes for lunch, sometimes to watch T.V., sometimes in the courtyard for some sunshine and fresh air. For a hour, for a few and sometimes for the day or Eve or sometimes more than once. The boys would go alot with me and we also would bring Trevs best friend Brayden with us. Gram and Gramp love seeing him. I can't even tell you how greatful I am for the time we shared together sharing stories confiding in one another. To see his face the day we had the meeting about homebound plans brought tears to my eyes. He worked so hard and he was so proud about his accomplishments to get out and go home with his wife Dorothy to their home.
You see he was a Marine and Brewery worker for Schlitz by trade and a carpenter and awesome woodworker hobbiest. He has made beautiful pieces of furniture for not only my gram but other family too. Now he is very forgetful and when I see him he tells me about how everything he has made is of OAK. He also tells me how much love comes in and out of his home and how he loves and appreciates so many of us. So everytime I am there he says to me " Sweetie, this house is full of Love and Oak"
SO I finally I thought of a gift that he and Grandma would I think love. It is not only hand made, but it has a picture of two people whom mean the world to me and who love each other endlessly. It serves a purpose by having a clock and Finally the topper is that it carries a personal Quote and thought from my Grandpa Bill.
