Uncle Len

Today is my Birthday. My celebration is not cake and balloons, but being thankful for what I have in life. Today is also a reflection on a day that isn't so happy.
It was 3 years ago Today the My Uncle Lenny Died
He had fallen during the night and cried out to my Grandma " Please Help Me" They took him to the Hospital. He had been sick on and off. Sometimes he couldn't even get out of bed. Leukemia was diagnosed about a year before. It would seem sometimes as though nothing would bring him around, and we all wondered if he would be here tomorrow. My Grandma Dorothy who is his sister took care of him with such love and dedication that he seemed to pop back. As he was in the hospital 3 years ago I went in the afternoon. I walked in the room and he smiled with still his bright eyes.
He had never looked so frail to me. We chatted a bit. Even though he smiled at me and we laughed he looked so tired. I stayed for awhile longer and then said "I'll see ya later Farmer." That was one of the sayings that made us smile. He always had a way of touching your heart with his comical sayings and his wonderful personality.
Little did I know that leaving there that afternoon would be the last time I would be able to smile laugh and hug my dear uncle. So Today every year since I make a stop at the cemetary. I leave alittle something by the gravestone. It really isn't for anything or anyone else, but to give me some peace with my heavy heart.
On my way home I decided to stop at the park. As I took some more fall pics there in the sunlit background of the bright colored tress brought a smile to my face, thinking of My Uncle Lenny and all the things he meant to me.

Season's End

Well, the football season is officially over. The Hawks lost the last game Hawks 6- Mukwunago 27. Well win some lose some. At least this year was not a total bust like last years season.
I truely think there were more boys who cared about the game this year. Some may have grew iinto some maturity. Also not to knock the other coaches at all, because they are great guys. They are maybe just a bit lax in giving it to them. With that being said, Pete does not put up with the bull that alot of the players gave last year.
Although Pete was bearly home, I am SO proud of him for taking time to volunteer as a coach. He definately enjoyed it and he plans on continuing next year. It will be with the 6th graders though not the highschool team. To him it doesn't seem to matter. He truely just enjoys the interaction and the direct instruction he has with the guys, as well as the respect many give him. I do not think there was ONE player who didn't like him. Trev has many friends and alot of them played. Everytime we would see them football or not they arelike " HEY COACH HOLMES! " That makes a difference and makes it seem like it is worth every minute, even if the game makes you hoarse. LOL
